He Restoreth My Soul . . .
In
the 23rd Psalm, David described the Lord's numerous roles as
a Shepherd of His people. In verse 3, one of His characteristics
was a restorer of our souls. Our souls are distinctively different
from our spirit in that it is composed of our physical being,
our emotional being, and our intellect. Once we become born again
our spirits have been restored but our natural components must
go through a restoration process in order for us to completely
walk out the abundant life Jesus died on the cross for us to
have.
What does it mean to restore? Restore means to
bring back to a former or normal condition. In order to do that,
there is going to be some repairing, some rebuilding and some altering.
Rarely is anything restored without some modification. Restoration
is a process involving many changes. It is not just an event. Restoration
is an active event that requires total submission to the working
of the Holy Spirit. Restoration is not a quick-fix. It took many
years for life's circumstances and events to tear us down. Restoration
will not happen over night but in Joel 2:25 God promises to restore
the years that the locust have eaten. There are many areas of our
lives that will need restoration and it will take time for us to
get there. All God asks of you is that you do your part in applying
biblical and natural principles and leave the supernatural up to
Him. It doesn't matter how long it takes you to get to your "there
place". "But beloved, do not forget this one thing, that
with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years
as one day". 2 Peter 3:8
